Make list of hundreds of files you have ..in second

You have probably at least once tired to make a list of files on your hard disk.Doing it manually would be very hard and long process and you just couldn't seem to find the right software for it.Well solution is very simple, all you need to do is open up notepad, type in few lines and save it.Here is how it goes:

1.Open up notepad (Click on Start at your taskbar, then press Run,type notepad in it and press ok)

2.Highlight the three lines below, copy them and paste them into notepad

@echo off

tree /f /a > ListOfFiles.txt

exit

3.Now in notepad menu press File - Save as and when small window pops ,at the option
Save
as type choose All files , and at the option File name type MakeList.bat
Browse for the place where you want to save it and press Save

In the folder where you have saved it you will find a file looking like this:

Now you can copy and paste that file in any folder witch files you want listed and double click it.It will automatically generate a file named ListOfFiles.txt in witch all of your subfolders and files will be listed and shown graphically.

Double-click on MakeList

Open text file that has generated

There is your list.

Remember, you can copy and paste MakeList file in any folder for witch you need a list of subfolders and files that they contain;or you can paste it directly on hard drive for a complete list of folders, subfolders and files on it.

Changing the file extension

First of all lets say you have one file in some of your folders and you don't even know what extension it is.You can see the icon of a software that is associated with (program that will open that file) but the extension is hidden

for example:

(opens in a new window)

To see the extension and further on to change it you will need to do :

1. Go to the top of the Windows explorer , click on the Tools and than pick(click on) Folder options...

when window like next one pops up click on the view tab

After that in the view tab, on the Hide the extension for known file types option , clear the check sign (by clicking on it) press Apply and than OK

So now you are able to see the extension, in this case it is somepicture.jpg

To change the extension just rename that what goes after the dot (somepicture.jpg ->somepicture.whatever)

After you have changed the extension the confirmation window will pop up and you have to press yes in oder to change it.

Note: when you rename the extension into something of your own free will the file wll no longer be associated with default software (the program you used to open that file will no longer open it) but you can always rename back extension

It isn't handy to leave setting in your window explorer like this cause every time you rename a file you will have to be careful not to rename the extension also

SO THE BEST THING IS TO RESTORE THE DEFAULTS

To do that yoh have to go again to Tools->Folder options... click on the view tab and than click on the restore defaults button and than click OK and things will be back the way they used to be before you have made the change

But what if i want to change extension of 50 files ?????

Now that you have learned how to see and change extension manually i will show you how you can do it very easy by using a Free software (yes you don't have to pay for it),This software is very useful because it can change the extension of several files in matter of seconds:

The software is called Extension Changer and here is some overview from their site:

Overview: Extension changer is ideal for changing files extension, with a few clicks you can have the job done. The old methods were unchecking 'Hide file extensions of known file types' option from the 'Folder Options' dialog. or renaming the file from DOS. Using Extension Changer you can change hundreds of files extension in one go Here some features: How Yo Use It: All you have to do is right click the file you want to change, enter the new extension, and click on change. A new feature in version 0.4 allow to change the extension of several files and even folders in one go.
You can download it from here

http://www.seegh.com/extchanger/index.php?view=download

How it works :

After you download and install the software (i hope you know how to do that) open the folder witch contains files you are trying to change extension, highlight the files you want to change extension,right-click on it and select Edit the Extension.Small window will pop up and just type the extension you want the files to have and press change button like on the pictures :

1. Select the files witch extension you want to change

2. Right-click on the files (make sure that you right-click on one of the files not the non-highlighted space between them) and click on the Edit the Extension

3. Type the extension you want and press Change

4. Done (I have changed the jpg extension to rar extension in this example)

Check if I have dynamic ip or not

This is very easy to check and no need to use hi-tech jargon

(it will open in a new window)

Leave that window open and disconnect from the internet, wait 5 seconds and connect to internet again.
Now that you have done it :

(opens in a new window)

After you have done it go look at the first window where it says "Your ip is:" and in the second window where it says "Your ip is :"
If the ip's are identical(same) you have static ip and if they are not you have dynamic ip

example:

In the first window : Your IP:
66.249.72.136

In the second window : Your IP
66.249.72.136
you have static ip

if any of the numbers are changed you have dynamic ip

Downloading from rapidshare

Here is a small guide on how to download from rapidshare. You have probably once while surfing saw something like this

(picture opens in a new window/tab)

So this means that files you want to download are stored on a file sharing site called Rapidshare.
If you want to download it here is how it goes:

1.You copy one of the links and than go to file -> new tab (mozilla) or file -> new window (IE)
2.Now that you have opened new tab paste the copied link into it and press enter
(you don't need these 2 steps if you can just simply click on the link an it will open)

Now you got to the new page open and you scroll down to the end of the page and press free, like on the picture

(picture opens in a new window/tab)

After you press it a new page will load. You will ned to wait some time before download ticket waiting time expires .......

and than you input a code

(picture opens in a new window/tab)

click on download than a box will appear and you choose where to save it

MAKE A NEW FOLDER FOR EVERY DOWNLOAD,MEANING PUT ALL PARTS OF A DOWNLOAD IN ONE FOLDER

After this has finished downloading you are ready to download second part, but this is where slight problems come...
When you try to download the second part it says ..get a premium account or wait for 180 (it can be more or less) minutes

You can avoid this simply if you have a dynamic ip (yeah i know next question ...who do i know if i have one?)

To see how you easy check if you have a static or dynamic ip click here

After you finish downloading just DISCONNECT from internet wait few seconds and than CONNECT again, waiting time will be avoided! You can repeat this as many times as you want just remember after download disconnect, wait few seconds and connect again and do this for every part you download.
